Every year on July 18, the birth anniversary of Nelson Mandela is marked and is tagged International Nelson Mandela Day. The day is popularly known as 67 Minutes Mandela day.

Nelson Mandela was the South African President who fought for 67 years for social justice and democracy. He is referred to as the “Father of the Nation” and was the first black head of the state.

His contributions include service to humanity as a human rights lawyer, a prisoner of conscience, an international peacemaker, and the first democratically elected president of a free South Africa.

The day is an occasion for everyone to take action and inspire change.
